Free on-site parking
The Sandal Castle car park is free and relatively small, so spaces can be limited. The surface is solid and smooth with a slight slope. There are no dedicated accessible bays.
Please do not park on the access road. This can block access for emergency vehicles. The car park gates close seasonally, and cars left inside may be locked in.
Public transport
By train
Sandal and Agbrigg railway station is approximately 0.7 miles away. The route is gently uphill and crosses the busy A61 at pedestrian crossing points.
By bus
The nearest bus stops are around Barnsley Road / A61, approximately 0.6 miles from the castle.
By road
The café is near M1 Junction 39 and can also be reached from the A636 and A6186. Some approach roads are narrow.
Accessibility
Wheelchair accessibility is publicly listed. Please contact the café before travelling if you need details about entrances, seating or assistance.
The outer path around the castle earthworks is accessible to most wheelchairs. Some surfaces are uneven and some parts of the historic site are steep.
